I’m not that old right? I mean I’m only 23 years old and the horrors of life have yet to bring me and my youth-full ambitions down. However I’ve been around long enough to see the subtle and not so subtle changes that occur in popular culture and how the images broadcast to the public are not quite what they use to be.
Now if you have read the title of this little piece hopefully with a good chuckle, you may have pieced together that I’m a little concerned with the state of music videos or rap videos to be more precise. As I alluded to before I’m not that old yet old enough to remember when Rap and hip-hop videos were less about tits, ass and money and more about social concerns, political views or in many cases they were just light harted non-sense. Today if you were to catch a hip-hop video on TV in between the reruns of the Hills and the O.C you may see the same generic video played over and over. Let me just think for a minute as I try to conjure up the recipe for a modern day rap video.
- Take one mediocre rapper. Must be Ripped, dressed in the latest street ware and decked in bling that cost more than a normal persons house.
-insert this rappers posse into the background to pose and look intimidating.
- add al ot of cars. Those with hydraulics if possible.
-Make it rain!! So much that all you can see is green.
- and finally we add that most important ingredient. Now are you reading this? you need BITCHES, WHORES, SKANKS and VIDEO HOES!!! LOTS OF THEM!! Pile them up, fill every inch of the viewers television screen with tits and ass.

I don’t know about you but when ever I’m caught watching a rap video it gives me the same feeling as if somebody just caught me watching porn with my pants down. Well I guess there is no hope that we’ll ever regress back to the time when the music and the artist had a message and we’ll have to accept that in today’s society sex and power sells.
